Bit of a strange issue with my Sapphire 6950, the fan sounds like its running at full speed from the moment I turn on my computer.

I've just moved and yesterday the card fan was spinning up as normal but would ramp up to an unusually high speed for a moment in normal desktop use, before slowing down once again. Today I just turned it on and right away the fan is at a crazy high speed, I can't for the life of me slow the speed using ccc.

Don't suppose anyone has any idea about the fault or a solution please?

Any program you would recommend? And what exactly am I trying to look for?

Would a fresh install of windows help or is it strictly an issue with the graphics card itself?

CCC suggests activity is next to 0% and fan speed is 24%. Fan speed has to be 100% though, never known it to be this loud!

Tried rolling back to 12.x drivers and reinstalling CCC... doesn't seem to have helped though. Any more ideas?

Tried swapping both cables to it with the two spare pcie cables from my PSU. No change.

It does beep when one of the cables are unplugged, fan is still running like crazy though.

Sounds like some kind of fail safe has kicked in.
Daft as it sounds have you tried reseating it, removed and gave it a blow through with an airline or whatever?

Aye, had it out and given it a blow through. Not much dust in the case at all though to be honest. Tried it in a different pcie slot with the same result :/

The fan header might not be connected correctly. This happened to my Gigabyte 480 SOC and one of the fans was constantly at 100%. I refitted the fan header and it was fine.

Yeah, I think I'll have a look at that later. Anyone with a quick guide for me to follow to make sure I don't wreck my card? :p

If that doesn't work, would it be worth trying to flash the BIOS?
