Right guys this is a good one for you!

I have 2 xfx6950s, If i flash them to 6970 i get artifacts all over the place.
So i have found a xfx bios thats just got the unlocked shaders that works A1.

So what i thought is overclock to 6970 speeds. I cant find a bios that will go that high.

I have found an Asus 6950 bios with unlocked shaders that will let me get way past 920/1375 and the cards will do it no problems at all,BUT for what ever reason the eyefinity will not run.

What i would like is with the xfx unlocked shader bios i have, up the max clock settings but if i try and up them with RBE i just get BSOD (remember this is just the max setting in RBE i havnt changed anything at this stage)

Does anyone have a 6950 with the unlocked shaders and able to OC past 900/1350?

Afterburner will let you go past CCC limits with your XFX unlocked shader bios.

Did you try down clocking your memory to 6950 speeds when you had your 6970 bios? That could have sorted your artifact problem too as that's the main cause for artifacting 6950 with 6970 bios.

Been up half the night :) and have a little more info.

No matter what i do if i edit ANY bios stock or a DL from the net i get a BSOD when i try to reboot.

Also the 2nd GPU will not over volt! Its stuck @ 0.9V

The cards on there own are ok they go 960/1335 no problems at all.

Ive got 2 XFX 6950s which I flashed over the weekend, got artifacts in windows and games at 6970 speeds so clocked down the settings to a little over the stock 6950 speeds and it all works fine

They are the 2gig ver.

I have tried to underclock but still artifacts, But as i have said the cards on unlocked shaders and run one at a time will go past 900/1325 with no problems.

The problem i have atm is the 2nd card will not over volt.

The reason why they artifacts is due to the memory, If you used the same bios you could get faster speeds.

They are stock coolers.

Right think i have sorted it. So this might help other ppl with the same problems.

Download this BiosThis is 6950 Shader unlock only

Then Google MSI afterburner 2.20 beta 2
In the settings untick 'Synchronize settings for similar processors'
Then set each card and your sorted.

I have just been stress testing @900/1338 @1.1V

What i have found is if i upthe voltage i start to get artifracts. Might be the stock coolers?

My XFX 6950 did the same no matter what it just artifacts. My Asus runs happily with a 6970 bios. Its luck of the draw the cards are not guaranteed to unlock to 6970 and some just won't..

Try a shader only unlock by modding your stock bios with RBE..

TBH it doesn't scale like that. It looks like 3 1920x1080 screens. Its only whan you start a game it look kool.

I could never go back to one screen, Its so easy with loads! you just move stuff out the way :)

is there a way to set it so that it keeps the timings ive set in ccc, ie the stock timings for 6950 so I dont have to redo it on each boot?

I have just found a cracking tool for 6950 ppl. It allows you to up the sliders in CCC and still only flash the shaders.

You can do this
Regedit

Or use this tool and it does it for you
regedit tool

The tool will let you set the base clocks. I have mine set to 910/1345 1.1V loads these as it boots.
