If you were to flash a 6950 2048mb card e.g.:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-248-AS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1752

with the 6970 bios, Would upon interrogation with GPUz for instance, would it show up as a 6970 or a 6950???

I guess what I am asking is , if you bought a card advertised as a "6970 2048mb card", with no decals, plain box and cooler markings as per OEM VisionTeck stuff... could it actually be a 6950 2048mb card flashed?

Sorry if it is a noob question, but it is late and I need sleep:eek:

It would show as a 6970 as that is what the BIOS says and that is what GPU-Z would read. The 6970 has 6+8pin and the 6950 2x6pin for power, so you could tell which it is by looking at the card.

You can check the DeviceID number which doesn't change when you flash the new BIOS :).
