hi chaps gunna order one of the above cards soon wondering which will best suit my needs. gunna be gaming at 1920x1080 on a q6600 overclocked to 3.2ghz cheers for the help.

GTX570

Just a bit faster than the 6950 and you wont need the 2gb Vram for 1080p.

I also find Nvidia's drivers a lot less of a hassle than AMD's IMO.

Used Nvidia pretty much the whole time. Then had a few months of ati. Back on nv now and couldn't be happier. Dint even know why i prefer them?!

Jesus, this drivers stuff is really tedious.

The 6950 is a great card, but I agree that at your resolution, the 570 makes more sense.

super tedious - I say drivers are a mixed bag. never had a problem with the AMD drivers myself.

The 570 is more expensive part than the 6950 ... about £40 ... and yes it is a bit faster at that res :)

stream processors and cuda processors can not be compared by how many ATI have or how many nVidia have! They are different architectures. Although smaller in numbers cuda processors are more "complex" than stream processors.
I prefer nVidia myself, I loved it when I had my Gigabyte GTX460 1GB OC, but when I had some cash for an upgrade, most bang for the buck was to get a 6950 2GB which could be unlocked to a 6970!
Never had any driver issues from either ATI or nVidia.
