6950 Overclocking.

I would say your cpu clock and 1GB Vram will be more of an issue tbh. Just try sliding the sliders in CCC up and test stabiltiy with furmark and 3d mark.

What cpu cooler do you have? I have a 955 and it's clocked to 4ghz stable and idles at about 35 degrees.

Every little helps, 800mhz x 4 is basically like having another core that can be fully used. :)

Also what program can I use to test temperature on my CPU?

Do you mean raising the temp of the CPU or see the temps of the CPU easily?

Hey guys does anyone know any 6950 stable overclocks looking to increase my fps on BF3 by about 10 maybe? Don't know whether this is worth it or not? :)

Also wanted to add to this that 10fps is a pretty amazing OC if you're wanting to play on higher settings. Raising the clocks, core 80Mhz and memory 150Mhz, on my own 6950 resulted in 4fps more in 3DMark11 which I'd guess is around as ridicilously heavy as BF3. Could be wrong tho.

Can't remember exact gains but clocking one of my 6950 at 950/1400 gave a nice boost in Crysis 2. This was at 1.2v which is perfectly quiet and cool with the twin frozr cooler.

My CPU is now back at 3.2 (stock) because it caused my computer to artefact.

Hey turned out to be the overclock on the CPU which Overclockers did, went back to stock and the computer has been fine since ;D>

Cant you send it back?! That 955 is it C2 or C3 stepping? have a look in cpu-z

You should be able to hit at least 4.0+ if its C3

3.2 to 4.0 overclock should help!

cpu reviews of bf3 show just a few fps difference between high and low end quads.

turning off AA and running textures on "high" should give you better/smoother fps. you may get a 1-4 fps difference from overclocking your GPU, which helps but maybe not enough.
