at home, you?
most of the time i sit browsing the net and watching high def films/vids but occasionally i like to flick on dirt 3/trackmania 2 and occasionally call of duty series games, im looking to do a full upgrade soon, and im just wondering wether it would be worth the money to get one

1920x1080 and in total, i should have about a grand to spend on my new rig not including psu hdd's or rom drives, i have them already

When I built my rig the 6950 was around the £220 mark so got a 6870 for £130 instead and it easily maxes out games like Dirt3, F1 2011 and also runs the demanding games like BF3 and Metro with most of the good stuff turned up.

i did consider nvidia cards, but my monitor isnt 3d and dont fancy changing it, if it was a 3d monitor id definately be considering it

Personally i dont think its overkill and would be great if your needs change. I would get the 2gb version as games use more vram with higher resoloution.

i think if i was going to pick any of the 6950's it would be the twin frozr one, which doesnt seem to be there anymore

If you spend most of the time not playing games, I don't think its even worth you getting a new system. Surely your current system can play those games fine?
