Guys i got yet another problem.

I switched coolers on my 6950 to a Gelid icy vision Rev2,put it in and i was not getting any signal on the monitor no matter what i tried.

So i put back on the old cooler and now i get signal and the cards working fine on the desktop but as soon as i put it under load (furmark) the scren goes black (monitor comes up no signal) and the 6950s fan goes 100%.

It wont go back to normal until i restart.

What are the temps like on the card, Heatsink compound put on the right areas :(

Screws nice and tight.

hi mate

Idle 47c in catalyst..not sure on load as like i said it crashes as soon as i put load on it.

i replaced the compound with MX-5.

Sick of problems with computers!!!!!!

I'm having issues with my server, bought the HP Microserver and running FREENAS and last night decided both RAID volumes had degraded!! Hopefully know it is rebuilding its self.

Idle temps look ok, it could be another part of the card overheating.

well ive put the stock cooler back on as it was, although this time i applied MX-5 thermal paste...cant understand why it would all of a sudden now overheat.

heres my idle temps if its any help

Im wondering if the Gelid icy vision Rev2 wasnt enough cooling for the VRM and its now damaged the card?...even though the gelid was only on for about 10 mins.
either way my card no longer like stress! :/

A few mins afetr that shot above,i watched a youtube vid..

Did you put all of the heat transfer pads back in place properly? That's 8 for the ram, a long sliver for the vrm and that little one for the shiny chip to the left of the top left ram spot?

The increase seems a tad high for 500/1250 speeds but not abnormally high as the GPU is working a lot harder than idle.

ah..i remember now about that little one,no i forgot about it :(....ive took abart the card again...cleaned off and re-applied TP....put some heat transfer pad back on that little chip....but still im having the same issue.

have i wrecked my card?

feel such an idiot now for forgetting that.

you probably burnt out the little video signal chip and when it gets stressed now it black screens your pc under load.

Well thats just great if it has, either way the card wont do anything strenuous. :/

Ive learned from my mistake. :/

Looks like il just sell it on ebay as faulty.
