At the moment ive got a 550W Power supply thats 80+ which i would say is pretty decent, however, would that be enough to handle a HD6950 along with a Phenom II X4 965 and 4gb DDR3 ram ?

Thanks in advance, planning ahead my shopping. :)

Whats the brand/age? What ampage does it have on the 12v rail

If its some cheap thing or something 5+yrs old it might not cope.

But 550W should be enough provided 12v rail is decent :p

Its about 4 months old, Coolermaster GX550W, some reviews say the GX series are pretty unstable but this hasnt been the case here, serving me well.

Also im not sure on the amps

GX550 has been known to have issues with fluctuating power or something similar.

But from what I've heard it barely impacts/doesn't impact on the system - it should be fine.

Case wise, I dunno :p Its not the longest card but its still around 10.5" iirc

I have an old 600W seasonic..and its happily running 2 crossfired 6950's unlocked to 6970s with +20% voltage.

Assuming your psu is good I dont see why it would have any probs.

Ok then, so thats fine.

I measured my case, its 18.5 Inch wide in total, the 6950 is 10.5 from what I heard. I looked inside my case, and if the card isnt much bulkier than the GTX 460, it should fit. My card is aligned just under an empty space under my HDD, which would mean if the card isnt too fat It should fit under there, but there is some space left before the card reaches that area.

Thoughts ?
