Hi

Anyone got any idea when this is going to happen, just I have 1 6950 i bought yesterday and could buy another but not untill payday (Jan 31st), will I still be safe then or will these be the ones you cant flash to 6970.

If anyone has an idea of dates for the revision that would be awsome.

An ATI moderator on the ATI forum said it would be unannounced but someone must know dates, they prob said that to me cos they dont want me to rush out and get another for flashing to 6970.

Cheers

I dont think ocuk have actually run out of original stock so i would hurry. You might just be able to do it. Im guessing that ati have already started shipping 6950 s that have been corrected so id hurry. Go for the finance option if necessary

whats the risk involved doing this ? flashing what is basicly a faulty gpu must have draw backs .
not all are faulty tho. and if there manufacting doesn't produce enough bad chips to use in the 50's they have to use gd or end up fluding the market with 70's. then not enough 50's for the demand.

draw back is they use different vrm's, slower mem timings and less power as there 2x 6pin not 8pin plus 6pin. pll who have tryed but can't get are saying its the mem letting them down, there fine on the 50 bios that unlocks the shaders only.

don't no how long before they ship new locked stock. if there going to do that

i think some 6950's have 6970 memory chips but under clock/slower timings settings. mine works perfect at 6970 clocks/timings settings

i'm not sure if the VRM's are different tbh.

thats gd to hear tho some using 70's mem= better chance not to fail at the speeds.

sry might well be the same vrm's not not all tho, ment they set to lower volts

Is it really worth getting a second 6950 already? Because of this issue? If the 6950s will be locked I think ill do it too
