I have Xfire of 5770 vapour-x
Looking for a new card with possibility that I will eventually get 27 or 30" screen. so 2500x1400 or 2500x1600 res.
would 6950 2gb do ? as OCuk have MSI on sale ?
is this card quiet ? as my 5770's are so quiet I can not hear them at all :)
Thx

Nto sure how it comepares to your CF setup. But my 6950 is really quite when idle. (My key strokes are louder than it). The volume does pick up a bit when I'm playing games, but tbh- I normally have the sound on and can't hear it over that anyway.

I recently moved from two reference design 5770s to a single reference design 6950.

The reduction in noise on idle is vast to be honest, the 6950 is many magnitudes of levels lower in noise output, until it gets fast. Anything over around 75% fan speed is ridiculously loud on the 6950, but I don't think it's ever reached those speeds on its own (only when I've set it manually in CCC).

As for performance, well, the 6950 is far and a way faster.

Thanks.
As for noise of 2x5770 vapor-x is silent. You don't hear a thing :) CPU cooler can be louder

I've heard the reference msi 6950 are quite loud in sometimes, but the msi twin frozr is very quiet!, and the temps are amazing under load. I only see a rise of around 10-15 degrees.

It wont be faster then two 5770 in CF but it will leave you a lot more headroom in the future.

Here's a comparasion between the two card (althougth theres no data for 5770 in CF)
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/293?vs=296

You can see that generally 6950 nearly double 5770 scores, so in comparasion, 5770 and 6950 are on par, but with the 6950, as i said before, you get a lot more headroom. Also the possibility to CF in the future.
