6950 upgrade vs SLI

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a good upgrade from 6950 ~£200

Alternatively I'm thinking getting another 6950 for crossfire, can pick this up £150

Any recommendations welcomed

yeah should have provided my specs

MOBO: ASUS P7P55D PRO S1156 MOBO
CPU: Intel Core i5 750 2.66G s1156
GPU: 2GB XFX HD6950 XXX SingleFan
PSU: CORSAIR 750W 750HXUK MODULAR

I run the games on 1080p, not running any OC's on CPU or GPU (occasionally play around with MSI after burner)

Hmmm.....I assume the 6950 you mention is not second hand, becasuse if it is then I'd say that price was a bit too much on the high side. If buying new, then fair enough I guess. My personal preference would be to sell your 6950, and drop in a new single gpu card like a 7950 /7970 // 670. This would deliver smoother performance, require less power draw, and kick out less heat and noise.

Re : your cpu - whether you go for a dual 6950 set-up or a new card altogether, you're going to need to push the cpu. In fact, I'll wager that in some games it's already holding one card back, let alone two of them. Other than that, you have a decent cpu.

Make sure you keep an eye on the cpu temps. Something like 'Core Temp' will suffice :
