is it worth going from a 6950 to a 79 varient or is the performance increase just not worth the cash?

i'd have around the £250 mark to spend on a gfx card if it would be worth it, the rest of the rig is fine as I upgrade it last year, its just the card which is a couple of years old now
 
Must admit I'm surprised how expensive 6950 and 6970 are given how old they are. For my last PC my cunning plan was to wait a couple of years and pick up a 2nd cheap card to xfire for a low cost speed boost - the cunning plan isn't working this time though, as prices have hardly dropped in the 18 months since I bought mine.
