As it says in the title, is a 6970 worth getting for the price? I'm currently only running a 5770 so I wouldn't mind a big upgrade if I chose one ;D
Any comments welcome! Thanks :)

6950 would be better and just overclock it to 6970 speeds. Personally don't think its worth the extra £70+ for the 6970.

hey thanks for the replies. If I was to get the toxic, is it a complex process to get the speeds of a 6970? and would it be able to stay like that permanently or would I have to do it everytime I was to game etc?

The Toxics are pre-flashed with the 6970 when you flick the switch at the top of the card to the "2" position, so thats all you need to do!

Its not a 100% guarantee, but if it works, its perfectly fine to leave it on at all times.

Wow that sounds awesome. Is there like a percentage of work/non-working or are all the cards made to actually perform at those speeds? That card is really smiling at me at the moment, people are recommending it everywhere compared to a 580 and 6970!

Very tempting :D

Sorry to bump the thread but it saves me from starting yet another thread about this.

Would the sapphire 6950 be the best card for about £250? I was also thinking about the HIS 6970 IceQ card as well, but if there isn't much of a huge difference between the two would I be better off with the sapphire?

If the toxic unlocks ok, there won't be much of a difference.

But, is the extra oomph worth £50 more than a 6950 twinfrozr II 2GB? As I posted above, it can be found for £189(+p&p) elsewhere, or £40 more than the HIS IceQ X Turbo at £200(assuming you have free p&p)?

I'll be buying from ocuk, but now I'm stuck between the IceQ 6950/6970 now, though from what I can see of reviews there isn't much of a huge difference between the two.

I'm taking B!

Buy the IceQ 6950 and get yourself one of these with the money saved:

Ready to buy but still can't decide! That's what I was originally thinking, buying a 6950 and an SSD, or a 6970

Edit: Ordered the His 6950 IceQ. Read a comparison between the two and I couldn't really justify an extra £70 for a few minor extras. Should be here tomorrow! Thanks

6970 is pure awesomeness, you wont regret it :)

I went for the toxic 6950 and I'm currently just waiting for my 800D to arrive till I can build my new rig :D

On the actual card is a like a weird silver circular 'thing.' Is that all I have to turn to overclock it to a potential 6970?

Sorry for replying to an oldish thread :D
