Building my first system soon and have been offered a pair of 6970's (not sure what brand) for £100

Would you say this is a good deal and what sort of performance could I expect?

Or would it be better to pay another 80-150 and get a newer single gpu?

Thanks

6970 crossfire is still a really good option. I have 6950 crossfire myself and they still handle the latest stuff admirably. Just remember that when it comes time to build that you get a PSU big enough to handle them, a motherboard that has enough pcie lanes and a decent case that will cool them.

Considering that a single 6970 tends to go for £115-120 2 for £100 is a bargain
Take them and if you don't like em part them out and put the money toward a 7xxx or a 6xx

That is an incredible deal. You should be able to pretty much max out any games on a single monitor, and play all games on eyefinity (not at highest settings, but still at very good settings).
