6970 or GTX 570?

I wouldn't let it, it doesn't seem very prevalent and if you browse through the official 6950-6970 flashing thread there don't seem to be any issues.

Can't speak for everyone that has done it but mine is fine.

Yes but it's pretty much just a case of common sense if you're getting screen glitches to resort back to the 6950 memory timings in the BIOS and just unlock the shaders :). Practically if you read through W1zzards thread you can't go wrong. Also you run a script and unlock your saved original BIOS and flash it back to your card for the unlock of shaders. You can use someone else's BIOS but it's simple to use and unlock your own.

I was getting the odd glitch, mind you that was at 950/1400 but it was mainly on Pro Evo 2011. I didn't like that so I unlocked the shaders in my original BIOS and then have overclocked 890/1325 on stock volts till I can be bothered messing with RBE for my final overclock. Lazy I suppose :).

Everything is fine since I switched back, it was just the memory timings I think but a quick flash, reboot and all is perfect again. I could easily game with the 6970 BIOS but the odd glitch here and there put me off. As soon as I add more volts I'll still have a 6970 but just with 6950 memory timings and full shader count. We know that memory speeds between the 6950 and 6970 won't hardly be 1-2FPS in performance. As I say, as soon as I add voltage I'll be able to ramp up my overclock no problem and be a 6970 with 6950 RAM timings. I can live with that and my card is rock solid :).
