Got a massive fps drop, have tried going back to different drivers. and even now done a complete reinstall. But stuck at what was half the fps.

Any thoughts what would cause this massive drop. And any thoughts what to do :(

I have a similar problem. I get 1000 as my score tho. Oc refused an RMA. i think the card is borked. Have you tried testing all your other cimponents?

Ok think I have found the problem, believe that its basicly hottier than previous gfx card, have increased my cooling fan speed in case and now running as it should be. :) keeping fingers crossed. :)

That score looks fine to me. If you let heaven run for a bit, your minimum fps should go up a fair bit.

The first image was of what it was setup too and the second was the fubar'ed one. It was running at score of 683 back up to previous 1400's with more cooling on :)

Blimey, that second result is very close to my result for a single 5830 (900/1125). Score 659, Min: 16.3, Avg: 26.2, Max: 59.8.

Something is up. If you've wiped it, tried new drivers and checked the temps are ok, then it's RMA time IMO. Maybe it's not ramping up to the 3D clocks for whatever reason. Tried setting the clocks manually?

Read the OP last post :o. It just need more cooling :D. Probably reached the thermal point and dropped performance till the temperatures went back down. I've never experienced this with ATI, but I have with dust in my fan of my old 8800GTX. I wondered what was going on but a quick clean and all was well. So I'm thinking it may be the same case here.

Nice one Smee on sorting it out ;).

thatks for heads up and i was wandering why im getting such low fps moved from auto fan to 32% now get 1590 pts

He didn't say it was sorted, he said he thought he'd found the problem, believed it was down to heat and hopefully it was now sorted. I was just offering my take in case it didn't work.

Guys out of interest what load temps are you hitting for throttling to have kicked in?

You really shouldn't need to be messing around with manual fan settings or custom fan profiles unless you have serious heat issues with your case ventilation or are doing some faily major overclocking.

I've spent the afternoon testing differrent games and found its rock solid so would say it was heating problem. Of course normally I would say that after a month or more of playing :). Shame about having to do a reinstall but nice to have a clean install with new card.

Think will have to start thinking of updating rest of machine next :)

my gfx settings are at default.
