6990 Only Detecting One Core?

Having some issues with a 6990.

Latest drivers, and only shows a 6900 Series card in both GPU-Z and device manager. In GPU-Z says crossfire disabled, in sensors tab shows core speed for one core only. In AMD System Monitor only shows the one core, same in afterburner. With no drivers installed, when Windows Update installs just basic drivers it shows up as a 6990 in device manager.

In heaven, 2.5 only scores around 800, which is about half the score of the average 6990. (according to the thread settings in the heaven 2.5 thread)

Have done a clean install, and another clean install in a different system, both with 1000+ watt Gold PSU's.

I would have thought if one core was dead the card simply wouldn't work, I can still run heaven etc and the PC works. I does have some boot issues with the card plugged in (beep code indicates video card error) but turn it on and off again sorts that,

Any ideas?

No, apparently dual cards don't have the option regardless.

Make sure Catalyst AI is set to advanced in the 3d settings, I remember my 4870x2, without that setting on, it would only use one gpu. and I didn't realise till after 3 months of owning it, was a nice free upgrade on top of a upgrade once I found out ah the noob I was.

but only one gpu showing in afterburner? hmm, iv never heard of one core going dead and the card still working, but I guess it could be possible.

My 4870x2 went dead in the end, I oven baked it back to life a few times and got a full year of use out of it by doing so, so if you aren't in need of that card desperately, it might be worth a shot.

Dualcards do have the option. Open CCC, performance, crossfireX and tick the box?

Don't have the option. Gaming (3d applications settings) and performance tabs (overdrive settings)
