6GB 280X coming

Expect pricing to be a bit higher than the 3 GB variant but the card seems like a perfect choice for those still modding Skyrim heavily or playing above 1440P.

Will Kaap be buying 4? That's potentially 24GB of VRAM with Mantle.

This has already happened in truth, sapphire had 6gb 7970's out ages ago

To be honest I actually thought this was available from launch as I'm sure most people did, what with the 280X being a re-badged HD7970 and the HD7970 coming in 3GB and 6GB flavours

It's not...it's totally useless (outside of HEAVILY modded Skyrim or similar titles) because the 280X lacks the GPU grunt to drive high enough resolutions/settings to require that much VRAM, and scaling at Trifire/Quadfire isn't really good enough to justify it either.

If Mantle can treat each card's VRAM as separate (rather than storing the same data in each) then that makes it doubly pointless!
