6gb Cards

For multiple monitors. High end cards aren't even necessary for singe displays for the most part.

yea i knew this at the time, but then i thought ``oh well what the hell, i may as well at least it'll last a few years`` if not it would have been the 7950

yes but you're setting BF3 that high on purpose, i'm talking about a game on default to high settings only, not ultra!..you cant tell the difference on a large screen so that's why i dont bother.

You're complaining that it's not fair because he's turning up the settings?
Surely that's the point of having the higher settings?

This comment is so wrong I can't find words to correct it...

i'm not complaining no, i'm saying the 7970 will only be of no use anymore, when you cant game on medium to high settings.... but Ultra isn't quite so important because you cant detect this on a large screen.

the 7970 will be obsolete when you're less than 60 fps on high quality, or medium to high quality, now this will be about 3 to 4 years off, i had my last card for 6 years !!!!! and it was still ok at the end..... just about !

now if you whack everything up to Ultra, then yes what do you expect, but you should be gaming for the quality of the shooter, not how great it looks and unfortunately BF3 is like COD, it is not a great SP shooter, it's great in MP only

lollll I missed this!

Sir. When you increase the res you negate the need for antialiasing to some extent, but stretching the image across a 50'' screen at 1080 is not increasing the res. If anything you need MOAR AA.

As for the other settings, you'll notice. Lol.

The pixels on a 1920x1080 display at 50" would be HUGE, you'd need loads of AA if you were sitting fairly close.

You can detect ultra on a large screen!

I can see where you're coming from with the rest of your post, but I don't understand how its relevant here
