You've listed a 2GB stick at £21 and a 4GB stick at £65 which would cost £86.

There are plenty of 8GB kits (2x4GB) on OcUK for £70-£80

Your choice doesn't even make financial sense without even considering the difficulties of running such a combination.

Overkill? On RAM? No such thing young man!! :D

Go for the 8GB as this should last you until you need to upgrade next, rather than needing to upgrade before then and finding RAM is pricier than it is now (possible, look how DDR2 prices went up after it started getting rare).

I've got 2 x 4GB Ripjaws sticks and they've done me proud. The only problem is I keep looking at the 2 empty slots and thinking "hhmmmmm... maybe I could do with another couple. Sure I could find a use for 16GB someday..." Is therapy available for these issues?

yea go for the 8gb kit mate, i have 8gb and just know i have plenty of head room, dont mess about with 6gb thats just a mess go for the 8gb kits
