Hi all,

I picked up a cheap GTX580 for nephews machine to upgrade from a 460OC and now just realised he has 2x 6pin cables on his PSU and the GTX580 DC2 needs 2x 8pins :(

Are the 6 to 8 pin converters a safe route to get this sorted or does the 8pin send more power etc and I run the risk of doing damage

Will be fine as long as the PSU is up to the task, the extra 2 pins is usually just ground to let the card know it can pull out more power.

My Zotac AMP requires 2 x 8 pin but my PSU has 2 x 6 pin.
I used the adapters that came with the GPU and it all works fine.

My PSU is only 460w and Zotac recommends 500w minimum but it all works just fine, no coil whine either.
