6th Generation fighters and beyond.

Main RAF fighter is the Typhoon. Not sure about of its capabilities compared to an F-22 though but it won't have the stealth capability that the Raptor has. The RAF will use F-35s but it doesn't look like anytime soon.

Von Smallhausen, could you please change the title of my thread in my sig to reflect the fact there are prizes for grabs. :3

I asked around and nothing seems to be able to be done!

Thanks!

P.s we can't get rid of manned planes, it's part of the cool factor x10000. :o

That's the one, thanks.

While I like the J-20, I wonder how much of it is copied stealth technology from the downed F-117 in the 90s ? Also, can it really be stealth capable with those canards ?

I doubt it as f117 tech was old even when it was shot down, 20 years ago. the airframe may have been copied from the russian MIG 1.42/1.44 project tho. China has had a bit of trouble producing decent engines as well as most rough estimates also putting chinas avionics about 10 years behind the US.

the j20 isnt going to change anything major but its a sign of where they are heading. acquiring capable prestigious equipment that signals growth in power, much like owning a carrier.

as for canards, "stealth" is a balance of everything from shape, materials, avionic suite and capability not just the cross section of the aircraft.
I think a stealth aircraft could have canards, just look at your Boeing link at the start of the thread although they have obviously sacrificed the tailplane. Canards also allow a smaller wing section as well as the increased maneuverability associated with them.
