6x9 Speaker Recommendation

Hi all, I'm new to the forums and hoping I can get a little hand with my current setup.

My car is a Ford KA (1998), I have a Pioneer MVH-350BT for my radio, no amplifier installed (yet :D). My door speakers are Hertz Energy 165.5 which are truly amazing quality for their size (16.5cm) with some sound deadening in the doors, and I recently got a pair of Kicker ES693 speakers which I DIY'd into a stealth shelf (MDF + acoustic carpet)

Whilst I'm happy with the front speakers, there's always room for improvement - now this isn't really important however if I wanted to get them replaced with even better front speakers, would the Vibe Slick 5x7 speakers be any better than the Hertz Energy 165.5 ones I currently have fitted in them?

More importantly, I enjoy the Kicker ES693 speakers I have fitted into stealth shelf. However I just don't think I'm getting the proper quality with these speakers than a particular pair of 6x9s I've heard - my friend has a very similar setup to mine except with Vibe Slick (692) 6x9 speakers fitted into his stealth shelf and the quality on those are almost unreal (you can actually feel some synths through the front seats! :D), so I'm looking for a recommendation - I was thinking of getting the Vibe BlackAir V2 6x9 speakers as I was told they're better than the Vibe Slick 6x9s. I listen to Dubstep/Dance so quite bassy music and I would definitely say I'm an audiophile! :p

TL;DR People: I need a speaker recommendation that are better than Kicker ES693 speakers - are Vibe BlackAir V2 6x9 speakers better? Less importantly, the front speakers I have are Hertz Energy 165.5 Speakers - would the Vibe Slick 5x7s be better? I listen to Dubstep/Dance (quite bassy music) and I'm an audiophile! :p

Apologies for the extraordinarily long post I've made but I highly appreciate all the help I'm given, and I'm hoping I've given enough detail to get the responses I'm after! Many thanks.

EDIT: It might also be worth mentioning that I didn't get the radio or front speakers fitted - I paid to get them done so I wouldn't know anything about that I'm afraid!

If you truly are an audiophile, then components are the way to go, 6x9s are the Dre Beats of the car audio world.

Components plus a good sub(or subs) will give you far better quality. Im 32 now so have lost interest but as a youngun' I used to have about £2K worth of gear in my car at one point - with tinnitus to prove it :(

Hi oHUTCHYo, thanks a ton for the response!

Understood I said I was an absolute audiophile :D But as I would only be using the car for either driving to work or casual outings (such as shopping, picking people up/dropping people off) I wouldn't have the need to enjoy the best quality bass in a car just yet (I have a hefty home audio system for that!) - for now I just require 6x9 speaker recommendations that are either better or similar to the Vibe Slick 6x9s since they pretty much have the perfect quality I'm looking for - but wanting something better if possible :p (I'm pushing it aren't I!)

I used to own a fair bit of Vibe, back then it was fairly new on the scene. I'd love to give you some suggestions but I'm that out of date now I'b probably be wrong but will enjoy watching the thread :) Used to have a Vibe digital 1200 watt monoblock amp powering 2x10" Vibe subs in ported enclosures. Still miss it sometimes and even now hear tracks and wonder what they would sound like on a good system.

Alpine was always quality stuff, used to avoid JBL as they were overly warm and likewise Infinity were always cold sounding.

Used to spend a fortune here, http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ plus the community forum is (or was) very helpful :)

No problem :D Thanks a ton. I made a post on the Talkaudio forums too quite a while back (the forum that Car Audio Direct links to) but didn't seem to attract as much attention as this post did. Looking forward to other input however! Thanks again oHUTCHYo. So far I'm keen on getting the Vibe Slick 6x9s or Vibe Blackair V2 6x9s however, again, any other input will be highly appreciated!

Appreciate your responses - however really don't want a sub at this precise moment. I think I'll stick with my Kickers ES693s or upgrade to Vibe Slick's set. Many thanks all!

If you have any local dealers who stock Hertz go have a listen, they're really nice for the money, especially if you have donned yourself with the audiophile tag :)

Although the Slicks are actually good for the money, but the Hertz are a step up really for around 60 quid or so.

Then I'm sold on the Hertz Dieci 6x9's! :D I found a pair on Amazon for £71 so I'll be picking them up right away. Thanks a lot!

6x9s lol. Twin 12" is what you want :p. If you like all the bass like me. Ive got stock mildly blown speakers and twin 12" subs. Still i think twin 15" are next because twin 12" dont quite fill my boot.

I didn't ask for crazy amounts of bass - just enough to enjoy. If you read my first post you would've seen that my friend succeeded in a good amount of bass with simple Vibe Slicks and I'm wanting to reproduce that.

Buy a better car. You're never going to make a rattly little tin box like a Ka sound good.
Yeah because that's really the best solution to this. Don't even post if you can't say anything helpful.

He does have a point though. Any decent setup is just going to rattle, like my mk1 focus did with a 4.5cuft 12" ported subwoofer in the boot. Even the tripe BOSE system in my a3 makes the structure rattle which is annoying. Don't want to spend £500 on sound deadening.

Possibly. But I'm not necessarily asking for a 'decent' setup - all I asked was for a 6x9 recommendation and stated a few times I'm not prepared to get a sub. I like what I've heard from the Vibe Slicks and I was simply asking if there was anything better than that. Even a simple 'No' and a small explanation why would have been nice compared to just telling me to get a whole new car just for an unrequired sound system (seeing as I've already stated in one of my previous posts that I don't use my car enough to need to make it into a perfect music machine).

All that aside, I appreciate the responses and will have a look into Vibe Slicks my friend has (seeing as they're the only ones I've heard that are definitely good enough to my liking) and will possibly test the Vibe BlackAir or Hertz Diecis in the future. Thanks all again.

you would be better off upgrading your door speakers, 6x9's are pants
KA's door speakers are 5x7 at the most (I currently have Hertz Energy 165.5 speakers in them), I personally think you'd get better bass response from 6x9s in a parcel shelf seeing as the sound would use most of the boot for bass - correct me if I'm wrong! If you can recommend any decent speakers for the front tailored to my requirements that would be great.

I'm kinda in your situation, but i've still got the Standard HU not looking to replace it either as it controls my Climate control and all that (Gen 7 Honda Accord), on the Parcel shelf it still has the stock 6x9s which are very good, but since 2003 speakers have improved since then, so i'm after some replacements.

Just after a straight swap instead of going into adding amps, this is a car I'm gonna keep away from the modding/chav scene.

I was looking at JBL GT6-69 which seems to have good reviews for £30.

in my Clio i've got a Vibe CBR12 which I adored, Bass galore.
