7/16" tubing not so tight - am i doing it wrong?

so my watercooling gear arrived today...

i got 7/16" tubing as it seems to be the most advised choice

problem is - i heard its supposed to be very tight on 1/2" barbs

but it seems slack - i can push it on and pull it off very easily

i have checked the size on both and they are correct

its masterkleer tube and dtek barbs

is there something i have missed?

as i plan to leak test saturday and install on sunday
 
Hmmm, I had a different make of tubing and barbs and the only way I could get the tubing on was to soak the end of the tubes in hot water for a few minutes.

Even with this I really struggled to get it on my pump.

However, I did still use jubilee clips as well as I would rather be safe than sorry.
 
Sure they're 1/2" barbs?

I use the masterkleer and 1/2" barbs, and there's no way they'll slide on and off easily. Either the tubing is faulty (unlikley) or the barbs are smaller than 1/2". 10cm maybe?
 
thats what i dont understand - they are the right sizes

i pushed the other end of the tube on and it wont come off - so it looks like it may be just one end

will cut it down anyway and see if its good to go
 
Sounds like it was the end of the tubing then. Perhaps it got heated at some point to the extent it's weakened it. Good luck.
 
cut an inch of tube off and it now fits snug

dont think i will be needing hose clamps

just need to get this damn air out now!!!! :(
