7.3-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Fukushima and Miyagi (Japan)

Wonder if it's the big one or a prelude to a bigger one?

God knows, lets hope they don't have a tsunami after this or another quake that triggers one, that Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant is still a mess from before and in the process of being decommissioned.

Godzilla?

Maybe he's sick of Putin's **** and gonna death beam him in the face.

More seriously, hopefully it's minor and nothing too serious.

I like the picture some of the newspapers online are running with.

Huge damage, how will this shop keeper ever clean up that mess

We can’t seem to catch a break at the moment, although it’s a shame so much of it (not this obviously) is self inflicted.

I give humanity another 100 years before we're wiped off the face of the earth or at least walking around with personal geiger counters and collecting bottle caps. Or haz-mat suits.

As with everything, the proliferation of the internet and amazing video cameras in our pockets means everything is just shared more.
Yep, the worlds's always been a bit crap, but you wouldn't hear it about until the 9pm news or tomorrows paper. Now it's instant.

Yup. and of course now news can be 24hr and be spread by less traditional methods it means we are aware of things we might have not heard a generation ago. Though given its affected Fukushima with its fairly recent problems with similar events I accept this is not likely to be something news editors of the past would have deemed unnewsworthy

Any active tsunamis being registered?

The rate of the one they had all those years ago was crazy. You can't believe how quickly water levels rise and destroys. Although that was a 9.1 I believe

No tsunami - this one was fairly deep as well so not quite as bad as it could have been if it was shallower.
There was a tsunami advisory for a few parts of the coast, and the water level did rise but it was less than 1m change so nothing like the horrors of last time.
