anyone know what resistance resister? i need to reduce a 12v to a 7v or a 5v?

I can't be bothered wiht a fan controller on the next build so have a pile of fans to mod.

cheers

Hey Warren,

If you're feeding the fans from a molex you could just create a 7v or 5v one instead. Would save you adding resistors to them all. :)

Easy mod to do if you have some watchmakers screw drivers.

Zalman do a combined splitter and voltage reducer for 3 pin fans. It attaches to a free molex and gives a pair of 12v and a pair of 5V 3 pin headers.

I did find a competitor that sold 12v > 9v for 3pins, but nobody seems to do 7v or 5v.
I can't remember my electronics, so can't help much, but I too want to have mine on the motherboard, not molexs, so would like to resistor them (or put one in a 3pin extension cable).

When you find the right size, don't forget to post up in the thread. :)
