How do you get Windows Live to only display one taskbar icon?

Currently it shows the '*YOUR NAME* (Available)' and the "Windows Live Messe..." icons, even though both are the same thing!

How can I get it back to just the one like in XP?

You can't in 7 as this is the expected behaviour for 7 compatible applications such as this.

You will have to run it in compatibility mode for Vista/XP if you don't like it but it really is useful and with it enabled as default you can do away status and login/out by right clicking the taskbar icon in 7.

The left preview is for your active logon to Windows Live whilst the right preview is for the active Live Messenger window, since WLM supports polygamy it's useful to have this, plus if close the right preview (red x or simply mouse middle click it) you'll remain logged into MSN and it will be all fine.

If you close the left one you'll log yourself out of the Live service.
