Looking for a diesel 7 seater. Must be able to have the 7 seats up, and enough boot space for a wee pram at a minimum. Would prefer ISOFIX in the rear 2 seats, but if not, enough space for adults to sit.

Would prefer less than 5 years old, and have about a £10k budget or so. Can extend that if necessary. Would prefer to avoid Vauxhalls and French cars, but I guess that may be difficult for my budget.

What's your experiences.

Peugeot 4007 or one of its siblings - C-Crosser or Outlander? French badged but they are actually Mitsubishi's assembled in the Netherlands. We have had a 4007 for the past few years as the main family load lugger. Its an absolutely brilliant all rounder of an SUV and rare on the roads. Ours has been reliable and economical to run. Unlike many of the usual soft roaders, these can actually hustle over off road terrain surprisingly well using a clever manually switchable diff control. The 2.2 PSA engine is acknowledged as one of the best of its type, its not going to win any races at the lights but it gives 156 bhp and has a fairly large dollop of torque which means its surprisingly swift on the road. Mpg is around 38-40 ish. The only thing that let's it down is the interior which is fairly bland in a typical Japanese way but functional. I wouldn't like to spend any long amount of time in the seats which fold into the boot but they aren't much worse than other cars in its class. Reasonable amount of space in the boot when the rear seats are being used.

There's only one real drawback with these cars - you need to be able to get past the looks. I think its highly distinctive looking but 99.9% of people think they are repulsive aesthetically.

They can be had for silly money. £10k will get you a last of the line example on a 2010/2011 plate with low miles.

If you want something different and a bit more 'upmarket' what about a Volvo XC90? Your budget would stretch to a nice example although design wise they are a bit long in the tooth.

Do you need space for a pram when all 7 seats are in use? If so this really limits your choices.

Well yeah. My youngest is only 3 months old, so it wouldn't be the best situation to get everyone where we are going, and not be able to get her in a pram. I am aware it will limit the choices, but it is a requirement unfortunately.

I'm not sure I really want to go down the 4x4 route just yet, with this budget. For £10k I will hardly get a good example of a Q7. The Disco 3 might be possible, but it will still be 9-10 years old, and then a struggle to find one with leather (I couldn't buy a Land Rover without leather, although it's not a requirement on pretty much any other car).

I was planning a 4x4 when I replace my 530d in a few years, when I can spend £50k+ on it. I don't think my pockets are deep enough for a decade old one just now.

You definitely want a later model D3 if you go that route. I would have thought 10k might get you there by now? haven't checked prices in a while mind

My GF and I between us have 5 girls ranging from 2 to 12. I've been looking at different things. Transporter would be favorite as all the cool parents have them - certainly round here. But they are expensive. Theres a lovely LWB transporter Sportline which looks the part, white, 18" black wheels, all 8 seats leather but I suspect the thick end of £25K which is a lot for a van.

I saw a merc Vito (I think its called) and that had some sort of conversion for 7 seats and roof rack full of Kayaks etc.

Although I haven't looked around them in great detail the Nissan Pathfinder Aventura doesn't look too bad.

Surprised it has not been mention already.. Zafira?
Cant fault mine goes like a train and the whole family are comfortable.

If I were to trade it for anything it would be a LWB Vivaro crew cab.. just so I didnt have to run 2 motors.

I had a Ford Galaxy as a hire car on holiday recently, and was surprised at how pleasant an experience it was.

Pretty sure you'd fit a pram behind the back seats upright.

Well, looking about, it just about has to be the Sharan or Alhambra from Seat. Pretty much everything else I've looked at has zero room behind the 3rd row seats.
