I'm going to regret asking this but...

Has anybody used the Nikon 70-200 AFS VR, I'm sorely tempted to get one but it's a hell of a lot of money. So anybody cast any light on how good it is??

I dont own one but I have used it briefly. Everything I have seen & read indicate that it is one of Nikons best lenses...

All the Nikkor fast teles are rated high and rightly so

if it's premium and it's a Nikkor it's going to be great there is no bad sample nonsense they just are great at all settings :eek:

certainly was the case when i used the 80-200 2.8 nikkor for the weddings ive done so far.

what mrk said, really - considered the cheaper AF-D versions though? They aren't as good... but they're... Cheaper.

It really looks great but i don't want to play in a shop as I'll just buy it. I've looked at the AF-D versions but I'm intent on having all AF-S lenses now. I'd also like the VR as carrying a tripod isn't my thing.

Aside from what appear to be better optics, AF-S & VR are both undoubtedly extremely handy tools.

It's a toughie. If you can afford it, I think it's money well spent - but can you afford it? :rolleyes:
