70 degres idle?????

Could also be the motherboard mis-reporting the temp.

Probably wont make much difference, but might be worth trying a different prog to see your temp, Speedfan or CPU-z.

Your BIOS may also dislpay the temp - probably worth a check.

running 2 temp test plus bios readings the same....ive now reset a nero temps 45c

im guessing now that its me ...im a noob at setting heat sinks

anyone recomend an easy (failsafe) 1366 cpu heatsink

Probs not the mobo bios then mate. But that is one of the most common cause of high temp readings.

EDIT: This seems dodgy but have you tried putting the back of you hand near the hsf if it is 70 degrees then the hsf will most certainly feel quite warm.

Hmm, well you need to figure out if the chip is actually running at 70c, or its a duff sensor on the motherboard, I would guess its probably a sensor issue or the BIOS is mis-reporting...
