Ive £70 spare this week and i want to spend it on my PC. My current spec is

AMD64 SCK939 4000+ CPU WITH ZALMAN AM2 COOLER
GIGABYTE K8NSC-939 NForce3 250Gb MOTHERBOARD
2GB PC3200 DDR RAM
INNO3D 6800GT 256MB GDDR3 GRAPHICS CARD WITH ARTIC COOLER ACCELERO X1

SOUNDBLASTER AUDIGY 2 ZS SOUND CARD
NEC 3520AW DVD-R/RW DRIVE
VIEWSONIC VX922 19INCH TFT MONITOR
2 X 160GB MAXTOR SATA HARD DRIVES
WINDOWS XP PRO INSTALLED - PCLINUXOS INSTALLED
WINDOWS MULTIMEDIA KEYBOARD AND OPTICAL MOUSE

Any suggestions?

well i have the 7.1 speakers but ive only room for 5.1 at the moment and they arent even placed right lol. I am intested somewhat in the x-fi and headset deal, i suppose i could stretch to £90 for them. I did buy a x-fi extreme music before and it killed my mobo lol, so the mobo now is only a crappy nforce3 250gb since i cannot afford to upgrade to the pci-express version just yet

the ZS should be sufficient...

lol ive been building pc's for years. Im no fool when it comes to installing things and making sure i dont blow components.

Then you should know soundcards don't ruin your PC. Only time they do is when the power supply fries them and that shouldn't kill mobo.

if the soundcard was faulty its possible it could have damaged the mobo. Anyway i think for now ill go with the x-fi extreme music and upgrade my gc and mobo christmas time

i think its better for u to change to AM2 during x'mas. Change the platform and get the AMD X2... :D

And so you should be, but still, an Xfi also killed by mates mobo too! It just locked up when playing BF2 with this really dark, evil noise coming out of the speakers - the mobo was never the same since - random crashes, unstable SLI etc...
