Hi again,

I have posted on the forum recently, received some kind advice but still am a little unsure about my build.

It is a £700-800 gaming computer, a Christmas present for my son.

My son will want to play Battlefield 4 and F1 2015, and possibly Fallout 4. My hope is the computer will last him a good few years.

I've got a monitor (Samsung S22D300HY 21.5 inch LED HDMI Monitor), keyboard, mouse, etc. already sorted, presents from other family members.

Here is my current build. I would be very grateful if a more experienced builder could quickly scan over the components just to make sure I've not made an obvious error or poor decision. Any advice given, however brief, would be very welcome.

Thanks, Dave

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £756.88
(includes shipping: £13.20)

Consider buying a Windows 7 key for as little as £20 and then upgrading to Windows 10 for free. These keys can be found everywhere online.

The 250GB Samsung 850 EVO is also cheaper and better than the SSD you have in your cart. There is also a 480GB SSD available for (very) slightly more elsewhere on a very special deal.

Finally, if you want the computer to last long, I would advise going for a Quad-core CPU such as the Core i5-4460. With the money you save from the cheaper Windows and SSD you should be able to buy this and stay within £800.

EDIT: Also, if you are able to, I would advise going for a gold-rated PSU to be fully confident in your parts lasting and working efficiently. The one I had in mind was: SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black

EDIT 2: The Asus Strix 970 is available for £265 with £20 cashback, making it only £5 more than the card in your cart. It is a superior card that will be quieter and cooler which I can personally vouch for since I've had the pleasure of using it in the past.

That CPU isn`t going to cut the mustard i`m afraid, Battlefield 4 in particular is pretty CPU intensive. You should spend an extra 100 ish on an i5.

You can run battlefield 4 on high/ultra with a 4th gen i3, F1 2015 probably not, but then gta 5 requires quad and I've seen YouTube videos of computer specs you wouldn't have even thought of run the game lol, but with your budget you can factor in an i5 even in non K form and you'd be silly not to if I'm honest.

Next you would want to change the power supply, I used to have a cx range unit and was good, but long time ago before I discovered the bad reviews, you would want an AX or RM model at least from corsair and I agree to the above about the ssd, haven't looked properly through this 'black Friday' yet, but I did notice the 250gb Evo 850 for few quid less.
