Right trying to help a friend out but sort of stuck at what I'd like to do, he wants a specific colour scheme, either black or black & red. Which isn't a problem.

Here's what I've got so far... But I have had to purchase a few parts from another site to keep costs down a little bit, has saved ~ £50. But tell me what you think.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM £227.99
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 760 OC Gaming Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £175.99
1 x Corsair Obsidian 450D High Airflow Mid-Tower Case (CC-9011049-WW) £91.99
1 x Prolimatech Black Megahalems CPU Cooler £52.99
1 x Corsair Air Series AF140 1200RPM LED Red Quiet Edition (CO-9050017-RLED) £10.99
Total : £559.96 (includes shipping : ).

Then the other parts that I'm getting else where.

Coolermaster GM-Series 650W Semi Modular PSU
Kingston 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 HyperX Blu Red Series
Gigabyte GA-Z87-DS3H Socket 1150
WD 1TB Green

Total £224.44

So £784.40 all in.

If I've gone wrong somewhere, please tell me. If there's stuff that I can change, again, please advise.

Is this a gaming PC? If so, drop the CPU down to a 4670k and get a better GPU.

Alternative (cheaper) windowed case: Bitfenix Ronin.

No, peripherals not needed, and was only thinking i7 for future proofing as he doesn't want to buy again for ~ 3 years, maybe just upgrade gfx.

Mainly gaming, little bit of other stuff, nothing drastic.

Sorted?

I've personally got a 3570K and don't think very highly of it, I've got a pants clocker and very temperamental, although that may be more my choice of motherboard as there seems to be a lot of threads out there with my CPU and Mobo.

Hmmm.. neither website actually sells them and I don't want to order from a 3rd site.

Edit: They're also considerably louder :(

2nd Edit: Is it a stupid idea going for an NVidia Card on that board as I've realised that all Z87 boards are Crossfire only? Well maybe not all of them, but all the ones I've looked at are.

3rd Edit: Might have to swap the board as the one I've chosen doesn't seem to have any multi-gpu support.

Here is a red & black board that supports SLI & Crossfire, a red & black GTX 770 (also the cheapest 770 on OcUK at the moment), a 4670k which will suit your build better if you're mainly gaming and some red C9 ram. Also, I threw in a decent air cooler that should save you about £20. I would reccommend that you get a nice 120GB SSD. If you go with a 760 you can fit an SSD in your budget and you can add another 760 later if you want. Personally, I would save the extra cash and get a 770 now.

1 x Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £161.99
1 x MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Series Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £106.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLD38G1600HC9DC01) £49.99
1 x Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler £29.99
Total : £598.55 (includes shipping : £8.00).

By the way, if you want SLI down the line, you'll need a hefty enough PSU.

Well you say that but he has spec'd a retail CPU and included the cooler, a small point I know, but he also hasn't included a case so that's an extra and £30 for the difference in motherboards.

But fair point about the PSU might as well not worry about SLI, probably be better just getting a better Gfx in 2 years time.

This is what I got, its a little bit over but I've kept the parts that you want..

if the system is going to be used primarily gaming I would suggest buying an i5-4670k and overclocking it. This would save you cash to put towards a better GPU>
