Looking like this is the gaming build I am going to make. Does this look decent or is there any changes I should make?

Case: BitFenix Ronin Mid Tower Case
Motherboard: MSI Z97-Gaming 3 Intel Z97 ATX DDR3
Processor: Intel Core i5-4690k 3.50GHz Devils Canyon S1150
CPU Cooler: Raijintek Aidos Direct Contact Red CPU Cooler
GPU: MSI Radeon R9 280X 3072MB GDDR5 Twin Frozr II
Memory: Kingston HyperX 8GB (2x4GB) PC3-17100C11 2133Mhz Red/Black
Storage: Internal SATA 1TB Hard Drive
PSU: SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550w 80 plus gold

TOTAL: £719.92 (based on a few price matches)

Possibly change the case to either Corsair Obsidian 450D or Phanteks Enthoo Pro for the extra £20.

What do you think? I am mainly trying to get a nice black/red theme so it looks smart.

:)

P.S - Sorry I don't know how to do the OC basket thing on the forum :(

Here is the plugin for chrome to put your basket in. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18371076

Spec looks pretty awesome, wouldn't actual change a thing expect maybe switch to this PSU, its modular so will help you have a much neater build and a bit more juice.

YOUR BASKET
1 x EVGA SuperNova NEX 650W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £59.99
Total : £69.59 (includes shipping : £8.00).

I'm personally a huge fan of the Phanteks Enthoo Pro cases, its a pretty epic buiid, has literally everything you need for a custom loop, extremely neat, even has a PSU shield.

Thanks,

Only thing I am kind of stalling on is which brand of R9 280X GPU I want to go for. They all range from £210 to £240 but I think its between the XFX Radeon R9 280X Double Dissipation Black Box Edition 3GB or MSI R9 280X Twin Frozr 3GB (to match the motherboard).

As always though you don't really see the GPU apart from the top half so I am not too sure which to go for.

I would stick with the Superflower psu, as it is better than the EVGA Supernova NEX.

I disagree, simply because the cables on the SuperFlower are pretty bad tbh, I had problems routing them in a case earlier as they are really thick and stiff. The internals are great, but so are the EVGA internals and it is modular

I noticed that bundle earlier. It won't workout any cheaper as I can get the Intel i5 for £168 and z97-gaming 3 for £94.

I will look into that other PSU tomorrow and read up on some reviews.

The EVGA NEX is inferior to the Superflower. The nex is made by FSP and not Superflower. I would personally pay a bit extra and go for the Leadex 650W.

Thanks,

After a little more tweaking based on reviews and other posts I am going to make the following changes I think:

Case: Phantek Enthoo Pro
CPU Cooler: Raijintek Ereboss High Performance CPU Cooler Red

I'm still deciding on the brand of R9 280X (possibly the MSI one) and PSU to go for.

Will be making the purchase on Sunday so will post what I eventually went for.

:)

What is the minimum size PSU I would need for this build?

I have seen one I quite liked but I won't link it.

630W be quiet! Pure Power L8 Hybrid Modular 80PLUS Bronze 120mm Rifle Bearing Silent Fan, ATX, PSU @ £57

Anyone know if that one is decent? I have a be Quiet! CPU Cooler and it is excellent.

Is a Corsair CX750 worth £59.98?

Seems a good price for the amount of wattage your getting.

The internals are bad in the CX series, I have a CX600M and it's probably the worst part for what it is in my system (expect my SSD)

It's not that bad, but for a few quid more you can get better units which are more power efficient and better quality

Thanks,

So it seems to be back between the EVGA SuperNova NEX650 or the SuperFlower Golden Green HX650. (More towards SuperFlower, read a lot of bad things about the EVGA).
