Hey guys,

Looking at building an i5 2500k based gaming rig, with a 1TB HD and a GTX560Ti Gfx card as the only minimum components.
I Dont need a monitor, mouse or keyboard, although if a good mouse and keyboard can be fitted in at under £700, I'd probably consider it.

If certain components can be bought for cheaper at a slightly lower spec, to bring the price down closer to £650, that would be great.

Cheers for looking guys and I look forward to seeing what you can come up with for me. Ross

The best I can do at this time in the morning.

A couple of the products are out of stock (case and graphics card) so you'd have to look into that but the in stock 560Ti's are more expensive.

Retail processor so 3year warranty.

You could drop the the cooler I added to get below £700 and use the one which comes with the processor. You can still get a decent overclock with that.

I'm sure other specs. will be along later when everyone gets up.

Gives you some idea though.

Wow Im not as bad at speccing a PC as I thought lol.

My build is almost identical to that, except I had a lower spec PSU and slightly higher spec MoBo.

Thanks for your input though, Ill probably use yours if theres nothing better as I like that case :)

I'm glad you like it but I'm sure there'll be plenty of other ideas when everyone wakes up.

See what tomorrow, well later today, brings.

Build looks good, although I personally would go for the Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 over the Zalman for the same price, the Antec HCG 620W over the BQ (a bit more but a much better PSU for that beefy graphics card), and push for the MSI P67A-GD53 as it's a far better board.

This would all push you to about £750, of course. To save money, you could use an old case, or drop the graphics card to the *very capable but ~£60 less* 5850 Extreme. I know my suggestions seem to push the price up for little apparent gain, but a good PSU and a good motherboard are really great investments for ~£20 or less above the baseline price, and will save you a lot of hassle in future.

Keeping in mind the OP's core specification of a 2500K, 1TB HDD, GTX 560Ti and an OS certain compromises have to be made to get close to £700.

If you start adding £10 for a better this and £20 for a better that you've soon gone way over £700.

This is the main issue. For the games Ill be running, Ive been advised muliple times to stick with a 560Ti and a 2500k. A 1TB HD is not 100% essential, but for the sake of maybe £10-15, its worth doubling the capacity of it.

Sure cut backs will have to be made in other areas, but as long as the basic requirements are met, i.e. the build will allow me to use the PC for the next year no problem, I will happily look at upgrading in the future.
