Hey up,

Me mate is looking for a new PC and I said I'd help. Which means you chaps are going to help (so thank you!). He wants a small gaming PC that is going to be portable, as he likes to go on lan events as well as bring his PC all the way over to my house so we can play games side by side (how romantic).

Budget is £700+/-, and we are looking to build within the next 2 weeks! He uses a 1920x1200 monitor and will be gaming at that. He isn't obsessed with ultra settings but it would be nice if everything ran smoothly at a decent level. Don't need an OS in this build, but need everyhtjng else (only need 1 storage option as he has a spare external HDD). Need a key focus on portability! Ideally want it all for £700, but might have to get the GPU at a later date if it doesn't stretch far enough.

Cheers,

Grady

So this is my attempt. No idea about the fans, as if they are any good, but whatever.

Yup, its over budget. And the case is rather ugly... But it is portable! Could drop the fans, get them at a later point so that's -£39. Could get a different itx case, like the corsair 250D for another -£28. Could even drop the SSD and use his old PCs hard drive. Its slow and loud bit would trim another -£48 off the price.

Total with the above taken off, until he gets more funds is £664. £700 if he takes the more expensive case.

edit: no cooler.... Hmm!

Spending too much on fans I think.

Use the stock case fans and upgrade the SSD to a 256Gb MX100

I'm sure the case will come with some, but stuck them on till I can find out. Upgrading the ssd takes up a few more quid. He only ever plays one game at a time tbh so doesn't need the space, he has some other hard drives for storage.
