700 quid build...ideas?

would be hard to beat as you;re already scraping the bottom of the barrel. I would however consider a diferent motherboard, as this on I believe is voltage-locked. Something like either the P8Z77-V LX, or the forum favorite, the Z77-D3H (but not the DS3H, asit is also voltage locked). Can maybe save £10, £20 tops with different components.

For gaming, I'd avoid wireless, especially cheap. Just get some decent wired peripherals, unless you are willing to compromise your gaming experience a bit.

Can may be go FX6 with good multicore requirements, however I'm not too clued about AMDs.

needs a better heat sink and fan if your going to OC, but for now it would do, B grade doesn't mean cheap either just maybe a part missing (cable etc) but same warranty

got you the best m/b and cpu combo for the money, video ok, 2gb will do for some games as you don't play many, hdd is big enough and was same as your spec, rest of bits will be fine, case is low end and feels cheap, but only holds your parts in, not the greatest OC case as needs more fans tbh, but no OC fan anyway so will be ok for now to get you started, not gone wireless as cheap are rubbish as said above, wired cheap are loads better

another option, amd trinity cpu and m/b, same parts as above, changed monitor to a 24" and picked a different video card, so it can be used in hybrid crossfire mode, with the saving made, you can now add bigger hdd, better kb and mouse, or other parts like case etc

the cpu isn't to be compared to an i5 either, just showing you what you can do with your budget, for me the first build is loads better, as when you have more money you can take out video card and upgrade it, fit and oc heatsink and fan or change case and and do it, so there's more options, but for now budget is tight, better if you had some older bits to re use etc so don't need to scrimp too much, even £20 less for an older dvd drive helps on a tight budget

changed cpu and m/b again, same monitor as above and other parts, just added mid ranged video for more power, best card used so far, so good choice for gaming with better than trinity cpu power for games with 8 core, not that any game so far will use it, plus users a bit more power than a i5 as well, so to re cap, less cpu power and more video power so it's choice, could have used 22" monitor on this and gone under budget as well, but why go smaller? i wouldn't not for a few quid, whats £12 when most of the extra is shipping anyway, shame you don't get it free as you have been here long enough :( (location: belfast)
