Hey all,

Posting on behalf of my mate, currently has about £700-£800 to spend on a gaming PC. He needs everything except a monitor, speakers, keyboard & mouse. Preferably XP Pro also.

Just made this quick spec which I think looks ok. Basically he just wants something that he dont have to mess around with if you know what I mean, slight overclocking but thats about it.

Am I missing anything? Feedback would be nice :)

EDIT: Missed out XP Pro in basket, add £90 for that.

Any particular reason for XP Pro? Unless your mate really needs the improved networking capabilities then XP Home would save a bit of cash.

The system there doesn't look too bad but I'd make a few changes and all should save cash. 1) Buy the Corsair HX 520w as the 620w isn't needed. 2) Change from the Ballistix to some other decent PC6400, Ballistix is good when it works but can be a bit temperamental - Geil PC6400 C4 costs a bit less and would do fine. 3) Change the CPU for an OEM version as you are buying a separate cooler anyway so you might as well save the money - only point to note is that the warranty drops from 3 years to 1 year but that doesn't matter if you are overclocking anyway.

id say get a 8800GT that would know bit off, and the GT is an excellent card, most benchmarks i have seen sees the GT beating the GTS.
