£700 to play with

Hi All,

Ok i'm going to be upgrading my computer soon as was wondering what i could get for £700 or around that.

I'm wanting the i7 2600k chip as i will benefit from the multi threading. It's not a gaming machine it's a Daw. (for making music).

Also i'm thinking of a SSD hard drive but don't know which one to go for.

So all i need are as follows

Motherboard
CPU
Ram
HDD

Oh i am thinking of maybe overclocking it as well.

Add in a hard drive for storage

You could save £50 by buying 1600MHz RAM.

I don't think the faster RAM is going to make that much difference.

And you'll need a CPU cooler if you buy an OEM processor.

I use a lot of samples which uses Ram so i do need the ram to be good.

8GB of 1600MHz RAM isn't classed as good these days?

Same quantity, £50 cheaper.

If you're happy to spend the extra £50 then that's up to you.

Don't forget the CPU cooler.

A thermaltake frio would be a good cpu cooler.
