just built a new PC, added a cooler master cooler but when i went into Bios it said my CPU temp was 70-73 c that is way too high isn't it?

Yes that's far too high. Is it seated properly how much compound did you use? What are your specs?

Intel i5-7600k
Msi 1070 gpu
An Asus prime z270-p
Cooler master evo

I used a pea size amount of thermal paste and i'm sure the fan is sat coorectly.

If you load windows and use something like hwinfo or hwmonitor what does that say?

Also is the fan spinning fast? Like abnormally fast?

Remove, clean and remount the cooler to be sure it's all seated properly.

No big thing and while taking it off you can have a good check on the paste to be sure it was properly pancaked

Ok

That's normal :)

I have exactly the same in my z270 bios (asrock) it seems to max the cpu or add more voltage. Have you checked it in windows?

I bet it's a lot less. My temps are lower as I have a better cooler but still far too high for what one would expect.

If it's fine once in windows stop worrying.

Just removed cpu cooler, cleaned it, add new paste, remounted it towards the back of my case and have just gone in the bios and now its at 30c is that a normal temp for bios?

I would check in windows but am currently reinstalling it lol.
