7300 upgrade options

Hello.

I have a GeForce 7300SE 512mb PCI-E card in my machine and i'm looking for an upgrade. Before i go and buy one, i would like some advice..

I play call off duty 2, battlefield 2 and fifa 07, and some more that require less spec.

With my current card i never go over 30fps in CoD2 or BF2. What card do you suggest i upgrade to?

My computer is a Pentium D 3ghz, 1GB RAM.

I have £400 to waste!

LMAO.....well he did say £400 to waste!

Personally, i'd go for a 7900GS or X1950, just until DX10 cards come down in price.
8800 are daylight robbery. We all know they will drop hugely in a few months time.

btw, i recently upgraded to a 7900Gs for the above reason, and BF2 runs very sweet'n'smooth at 1280x1024 all settings maxed. And thats at stock levels.

You didhn't mention if it was AGP or PCI-E you wanted? Either way, I'd go for a x1950 Pro and an extra 1GB or RAM (in fact sell your current stick(s) and get 2 x 1GB). You should see between 3 and 4 times better performance!

I would look at other areas of your system before spending 400 on a GFX card.

I've got 2x 1gb sticks already on order! Putting these ones in the computer in the other room as its only got 512mb.
I want a PCI-E card. My PC can support 16x PCI-E.

I do have more than £400 to spend but i want to upgrade my system bit by bit over the next few months and a new graphics card is top off the list at the moment.

So if anyone got any suggestions on new motherboards aswell, i'll be greatful for tips (ones that can have higher than 2gb RAM).

680i; BFG, or EVGA (or MSI).

Failing that, DS3 or DS4.
