as stated in original post thats what i type but it just goes back to C:\

the nvflash version is 5.50 btw, i really need some help as i think this may be the problem.

It definitely should just be

nvflash original.rom

(flashed my 7800GT quite a few times using nvflash). So it just returns to a command prompt with no output whatsoever? That seems odd.

yep, the odd thing is i created a cd which is identified as a floppy drive, and when it boots that up it says a:/, so i change the dir so it looks in the c:/ drive, type nvflash originalbios.rom and it just makes a beep and doesnt do anything.

i even tried disabling the protection on it but that didnt work even though disabling the protection worked.

Hmm. I'm guessing C:\ is NTFS? If so are you sure the command line can access it properly, and that it isn't just using the letter C:\ as a RAMDrive or something? Try typing 'dir' at the c:\ prompt to get a list of files on the drive. Also nvflash needs a file called cwsdpmi.exe to work, check that's in the same directory as nvflash. You could always try getting the latest nvflash from here.

this is what i type and get.

[DR-DOS] X/>nvflash originalbios.rom

NVIDIA Firmware Update Utility (Version 5.50)

I/O ERROR: Cannot open file: originalbios.rom

C:/

Right, so it can't read the bios file. If you're sure you're spelling it right and you've removed any restricting permissions on there I'm not sure really, maybe try renaming it so something only a few characters long in case the command prompt doesn't like long filenames? Or like you said put it in another location and try it from there.

saying that it sounds like the right solution, i just tried reflashing the new bios with a shorter name and the correct prompt line came up, i will go and change the filename to something a lot shorter, il update on the news.

thanks for all the help, renamed the file to orgbios.rom from originalbios.rom and worked, nvflash should tell you if the file name is too long is their a way i can contact nvflash and ask them to include this?

thanks for the help, sinny.
