I'm looking at building a cheap gaming system for someone and it seems that the 7300GT would be a good choice. Are there any brands/types to be avoided or are they all basically the same, I'm looking at the "BFG" version here purely 'cos of the price, its the cheapest GT with 256meg, I don't need 512meg.
Its gonna be used with an A64 3000 (probably overclocked a bit), 512meg ram to start with then 1gig. Games will be CS:S, dawn of war, republic commando, half life 2, BF2 (I know this needs 2gig, but that comes later) at 1024 x 768 with a bit of AA and AF.
Will this be fine or do I have to look at something like the 7600GT?
Cheers.

get the ddr-3 version, the ocuk ones, try to get a sli board, 2 of them in sli are a bit faster than a 7600gt i think.
For bf2 one 7300 isnt enough i tihnk if u want medium+ aa&af, also 2 gb isnt really needed im on one gig and 6800gs and i can play bf2 maxed...

(bfg one has 700 mhz ddr2, ocuk 1200 mhz ddr3..., also ocuk core a lot higher, 500 mhz instead of 375 on the bfg)

Great, thats the sort of info I need, not much between them price wise, but performance/overclocking there is, I'll go for the ocuk one.
