Hi all, purchased most of my items from OC 4 years back and want to build a new PC.. I have £700 and really want to go for a gaming PC Sli or Crossfire dual or quad..
I like some of the overclocked prebuilt specs already on Oc but i already have a 650w PSU, 3 Hard drives, and an original win VIsta disc...
Id have the quad core o'c to 3.3Ghz but dont want the Hard drive PSU etc
I was looking at 2 x 4870 GPU's to Sli but now looking for a
1:Mobo
2:processor,
3:Ram,
Tower im not sure on yet..
Any advice n tips plz?
Im waiting for Arma2 to come out and need a lot of power to host and play!

the 4870x2 is two 4870's together on the same card. The mobo has crossfire support so can add another one at the later date.

Hows this look? or did you need other stuff in your budget?

wow that was quick lol... Thanks gangster
looking to see if a 650W PSU would be sufficient to push all that and 2 Sata HD 1 dvd/CD writer? Im just checking the sound on that mobo as i have an audigy but usually use headphones.
Do you think i should go with quad or dual core for gaming?

I can re-spec it if you need to include other things in the budget?

What will you be using the comp for, Serious gamer = Dual Core, everything else (including a bit of gaming) = Quad core?

If you want a quad core then the Q6600 is the one to get, tho lots of people will tell you not to waste money getting a gaurenteed to overclock one as they all do.

If you want a cheaper dual core then may i suggest this one

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=793&name=Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.16GHz (1333FSB) - Retail

Depends on your PSU, 650w should be fine if its somthing like a Corsair or PC P and C, if its a budget one tho I dunno.

Afraid I cant help with the sound quality on the mobo, but I think its suppose to be pretty good,

I have a Samsung syncmaster 213T 21.3 inchtft
this one http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/44630/samsung-syncmaster-213t.html
i have an enermax noisetaker 600W
I thought i read that quad core is more for gaming but dual core seems a lot better now i been reading.
£50 difference for going from 3.16Ghz to 3.33Ghz, do you think its worth it?
I currently have an ATI RAdeon X1950 Pro IceQ3 512mg do you think if i purchased another one to Crossfire would be much better? I might just sell what i have and just get the 4870 :)
currently got an FX55 athlon 2.6 stock o'c to 2.8Ghz 12Multi X 234FSB
X1950 Pro Iceq3 512mg 620 core 1400 Memory
DFI Lanparty Nf4 Ultra
got 5330 score 3Dmark06

For Case I would advise against the Antec 300, I know a lot recommend it and I have one sitting here now, but...

Seems VERY small inside, verys awkward to build in, next to no mobo holes to pass cables through, there is a gap behind the HDD rails to store cables tho.

Majority of the bays inside are smaller HDD bays rather than full DVD/CD bays, which of course means you cant bungee the drives, which I was wanting to. I also seem to be getting a bit of buzz/vibration.

The P5Q mobo is very nice, very straight forwards to connect up, RAID could have done with a better description in the manual, the cooling on it seems adequate without being too overly ambitious.
