Hi, looking for a spec for a new gaming build. Want to spend around £750, I already have a monitor and disk drive so no need to include.

Many thanks for your help.:)

I am sure you will get a lot of Intel suggestions, but I still feel AMD offer better bang for buck at the lower price range. I based a build on this digital foundry article on future-proofing your PC for next-gen gaming. Given your budget, I think this would hold it's own for a good few years:

BitFenix Shinobi USB3.0 Gaming Windowed Case - Black/Green - 59.99
EVGA 600W 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply - 49.99
Gigabyte 990XA-UD3 AMD 990X (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard - £89.99
AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350 Black Edition 4.00GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - £143.99
Corsair Hydro H80 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler *Manufacturer Refurbished Unit - 90 Day Guarantee - £39.95
TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit - £56.99
VTX3D Radeon R9 280X 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - £249.95
OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM - 15.95
Corsair Force LS Series 60GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive - 54.95

Total: £778.24 incl shipping and VAT

£28.24 over budget, but I included a small SSD as it really is one of the biggest performance boosts I ever added to my machine and using this as a boot drive would be a great addition. You could shave the £30 off if necessary by going for a slightly cheaper case, I just really like this green Shinobi :).

I'd estimate the power consumtion to be somewhere around 500W, so this PSU will leave you a bit of wiggle room if you add extra drives as you expand. It won't support Crossfire, but having tried both Crossfire and SLI I wouldn't bother again.

We'll haswell likes fast ram, if you're buying from ocuk I'd suggest going with the gigabyte d3hp which is £14 more than the hd3 but comes with a CPU cooler.
