Well i have about £750 to get a new shuttle / gfx / cpu as i am selling my SB75G2 / 3GHZ Northwood @3.4 / ATI 9800 Pro AIW and putting the proceeds towards an upgrade.

I already have the drives and memory, but need reccomendations on the rest.

What do you reccomend.

I would prefer going back to AMD, but dont know what to go for.

If i went for the SN85G4 V3 i would probably have to go for a 7800GS, embracing a dead technology (kind of!)

or do i go for the SN25P (SN26p overkill as i wont be going SLI and i presume that is the only difference?) and embrace PCI Express (i remember making the same decisions over Vesa Local Bus and PCI  )

If i go for the SN25P, which CPU - do i go for the opteron or a single core or a dual core?

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!

Please help guys!

I go for a dual core cpu...Once the games start supporting both cores better there should be some very nice big increases of FPS..

well took the plunge and ended up with:

Shuttle SN25P
A64 X2 4400 Retail
X1900Xt 512MB

Just a 'little' over budget :), just need to get it built up then sell the SB75G2, 9800 Pro AIW and Northwood 3ghz.

time to have some fun.
