How's that looking? The E6300 is out of stock so chose the E6600, X1950 Pro is an easy choice for bang per buck. Rest are just semi-educated guesses. Already have the extras like monitor, mouse, keyboard etc.

Not going to be using it for uber hardcore gaming, but would like games like half-life 2, prey, oblivion to run well and respectable resolutions and detail settings. Do quite a bit of dvd encoding too.

Might be daring and dabble in overclocking too, to which i assume this spec would be capable of.

Anyways, gotta be better than my current rig:

2500+ xp barton
1 gig ram
60g hDD
6800 nu

Suggestions / substitutions would be greatly appreciated. Will probably be buying when i get my next pay check, so end of January.

I would personally spend a bit more on the ram, more like £170-£180 and would therefore give you more overclocking headroom

With a 6600 and 800mhz ram, thats 3.6ghz before the ram is overclocked at all so I wouldn't. What I would do is change the cooler to the arctic freezer 7 pro.

I was just about to ask if anyone knew more about the case, a mini-review here seems to suggest it isn't brilliant but not too bad either. If you can stretch the budget a tad then a Corsair 520w is a very good PSU to go for and then just pick a case without a PSU of your choice, Antec do a pretty cheap case that would be suitable in the form of the SLK3000B. :)

So what are the main differences between the s3 and ds3 then? I'll have a dig around for some reviews tomorrow when i'm a bit more awake :P

The only difference is the solid capacitors. That's all. Other than that they're identical.

Could get the price down by getting another PSU instead, Corsair ones sure are pricy.
yes - I have the 700w OCZ but frankly I think their 450w is fine too.. No problems with em whatsoever!
