The current PSU in the desktop has been bugging me. It is a 550w non-modular psu that was part of a package from a competitor. While it seems to deliver the power ok. Its the other issues that are bugging me.
  • The power lead to the cpu is short and in order to reach has to routed over the cpu cooling fan.
  • Some of the leads just make it around the backplate and some do not.
  • There is a riot of different coloured cables.
  • There is only a six pin power for the graphic card.
  • I have used up all the power sockets for the ssds and hdd.

What I would like is either semi-modular or fully modular, with long enough cables, and some extra capacity for future expansion (an AIO CPU coolers (120mm) either a 4690k or 4790k, couple of extra ssd/hdd drives, a new GPU may be a 970 or 390 for 4k, and a PCIe drive).

Trying to decide between Cougar GX800 never heard of this brand before EVGA supernova 750 at the top end of the budget Superflower Leadex little bit more than I wanted to pay or Corsair RMi750 again it is price.

Any suggestions or comments would be welcome.

RMi is meh for the price
EVGA G2 is an excellent option, it is based on SuperFlower Leadex anyway but without the lightl up LEDs and a 10 year warranty
SF Leadex is excellent, but when you can get G2 for cheaper with longer warranty that is a no brainer

I don't think you need 750W however, a good 650W would do you fine, like EVGAs G2 or GS (G2 is better) 650W units @ £75 mark

Just bought the evga supernova the thing is built like a tank.
No stupid lights on it like the super flower and has rounded cables which i much prefer.

Thank you everyone for your input. Will be pressing the button on an EVGA at the end of the month once I get paid. Cheers.

Keep a eye on their prices. They are not on this week only at the moment but may well be next week. Prices run from Wednesday to Wednesday and usually change around lunch time. Most drops are around the £5 mark so makes them even better value.
