750ti vs 270x

okay, i had another thread and long story short, i ordered a 750ti and then ordered a 270x.

so to assist me in trying to figure out what one to keep and what to return. i know the 270x is the faster card. the 750 though is power sipping which appeals. are tehre any specific features one has the other doesnt? i know nvida has cuda but to my knowledge nothing i do would benefit from that. errr is one better than the other for accelerating firefox?

clearly im not a massive gamer so my gpu knowledge is a bit lacking. as my cpu is an fx6300 mantle is a sway in the radeons favour but other than that im a bit clueless.

games i may play, eu4 hoi3, supreme ruler and used to play wow so may again and expect ill be playing beyond earth when it comes out. anything else relevant ive forgotten?
 
It's a shame NVIDIA are delaying the GTX 960 as I think that card could give you the best balance of performance and efficiency at a reasonable price.
 
The OP is playing the next Civ and Mantle is most likely going to make a difference since they have an FX6300 and it appears the game is using a derivative of the same engine in Civ5,ie, uses upto 4 threads but is also dependent on single threaded performance too.

The R9 270X in pure performance can be upto 40% to 45% faster than a GTX750TI in some games.

Regarding WoW mates with FX6300/FX6350 CPUs running at around 4.4GHZ with a GTX650TI Boost and HD7878LE/XT(R9 270X should be around this speed) seem fine at 1920X1080 ATM. The upcoming Warlords of Draenor expansion is meant to be better threaded according to some reports,so should run somewhat better now.

well the 270x came and is in the machine now, the 750ti is still in the post somewhere but since the 270x seems to be running without issue i tihkn the 750 will just get returned.

id like to open it and see if it feels any different but cant really justify doing that.
