Thinking of utilizing my socket 754 3700+ clawhammer presently on a 6600gt and changing to a pci-e mobo. Question is will this processer capable of running with a 7800gt or 7900gt and will the difference be worth the money/effort? Also at which card will the cpu be the bottleneck? Should I just stick to AGP for now and throw in a 7800gs?

Many Thanks

I'd say it was worth the upgrade because the 3700 is still a good chip and for about the same price as a 7800gs you can get the new motherboard and the 7800gt which is the better card.

A used fast AGP may make sense but genreally get a cheap new board and PCI-e graphics.

For a tiny premium you could have a 754 SLI motherboard to play with.

There is nothing wrong with the 3700+. I have one running 2x BFG 7800GT's in Sli and it copes admirably. See my siggy. It clocks up to 2.795ghz and hopefully more when i get my water cooling installed. :D
